Is Wix affected by PHP2Shell?

Updated By Catch Digital2 min read

Short answer

There's nothing for you to patch on your Wix site: Wix runs the servers, and you don't install or update PHP there. If your business also runs a WordPress blog, a booking tool or a portal on another address, check that address separately.

Why there's nothing to patch on Wix

Wix hosts your site on its own platform. You don't manage PHP there, so there's nothing for you to update for PHP2Shell on your Wix site. PHP2Shell affects servers running PHP from before the fixed releases (8.2.35, 8.3.36, 8.4.27, 8.5.12). On a hosted platform like Wix, the platform looks after its own servers.

Other parts of your business to check

Many businesses on Wix still have something running on PHP somewhere else. Check each of these addresses separately:

  • an older site on another address
  • a store or portal built on a different platform

What PHP Scanner looks for on a Wix site

When you check a Wix site, PHP Scanner recognizes it from Wix headers such as X-Wix-Request-Id and assets from static.wixstatic.com, and shows "Nothing for you to patch" with the evidence.
